Tim Ruzgar

I feel very honoured to be inducted in to the Linedancer Hall of Fame. My wife and I began going to line dance classes in the 90s following a trip to America. We got hooked and were going six days a week! I became a DJ by chance whilst helping a friend set up a trial country music station in Doncaster. As I had a large collection of country music he insisted I did some shows. Which led to doing events and the rest is history! During this time also ran events and worked closely with many choreographers, supplying them with music. It was a hectic and busy period deejaying at both social and competition events all over Europe and the States, one of the the highlights being asked to be Head DJ at Worlds in Nashville. I loved line dance, country music, travelling and meeting people so my work gave me the opportunity to enjoy it all. However, in 2008 I decided it was the right time for me to give up being a DJ. My involvement with the Crystal Boot Awards started back in 1998 and, I'm still happily involved with the production side at the CBAs.

Darren Bailey

Darren Bailey is one of the biggest known name in line dance today. To most people, he will be forever associated to Strictly Dance Fever (the BBC show that would eventually become Strictly Come Dancing) when he and his partner Lana Williams were runners up to in 2006. Darren demonstrated a background in line dance could open the doors to excellence in most genres, from Charleston to waltz and tango. He continued for a while partnering Lana and they worked in prestigious places such as Las vegas and dancing for various large national events and TV shows in the UK and abroad. His association with Strictly continues to this day as each year the BBC ask him to be a choreographer advisor, working behind the scenes to build new routines week on week for the celebrities who take part. In line dance terms, Darren is nothing less than a legend. He is a stylish dancer and a great choreographer, his dances always perfect in their interpretation of the music in steps and his fame as an instructor and choreographer is worldwide. In the last few years, Darren has worked extensivley with Fred Whitehouse (of CountryVive fame) and their association has seen them being guests of many events from Malaysia to France and the USA (and many more!) Darren Bailey is a charismatic dancer, a professional entertainer who has never forgotten his roots and is always accessible and genuine to dancers around him.

Nicola Lafferty

Nicola started dancing at just two years of age and it is the beginning of a lifelong love affair. She learns all kinds of genres and styles and when older, works in Scotland top productions (42nd Street, Carousel, Fame, Barnum and Oliver, to name but a few). Disaster strikes when Nicola contracts Scarlet fever during her university years and is laid off dance for a year. Her mother suggests line dance to ease her back into dancing and Nicola, somewhat reluctantly agrees that this form of dancing is better than no dance at all. It only takes once class to prove to the young dancer that line dance is a million miles away from her paradigms and she soon embraces the competition side of line. She approaches Rob Fowler who agrees to train her and goes on to compete and win many titles. Eventually, Nicola decides to concentrate on coaching other young competitors and also begins judging, leaving competing behind. But not for long. When she starts competing again it is in the Country Couples Pro-Pro division with American Masters dancer Ronnie DeBenedetta. She wins a World title and in January 2010 becomes the Female Pro Pro World Champion. This foundation allows Nicola to work successfully for World Dance Masters as Co-Owner and Competition Director. Her role is diverse and she liaises with the other Directors to run Masters events all over the world. She also undertakes successful technique workshops all over Europe. As the co-choreographer and coach with CountryVive, the hugely successful TV and stage line dance team, Nicola has proved beyond doubt what an important contributor and talented young lady she is. Her work for line dance is ongoing, her dedication immense and her results impressive. She was a natural choice for Linedancer's 2016 Hall Of Fame.

Whoever that friend was, we all have him or her to thank for introducing him to the Line dance world. Peter Metelnick

2003
Peter Metelnick

Peter Metelnick is the quiet man of Line dancing. Very much the independent-minded choreographer, one of the very few able to produce high quality dances to suit the needs of the modern Line dance market. He first came to prominence in the late 1990s and has had a series of floor-filling dance hits since then. His recent output has been so impressive that it was no surprise when he received two Crystal Boot Awards at the Southport Theatre in February. His induction into the Linedancer magazine Hall of Fame is more than deserved. Romantasy, Brokenheartsville, Irresistible, And They Danced, Everywhere, Body In Motion, Derailed, Feet Don't Fail Me Now and Heartbreak Express are just some of the many great dances choreographed by Peter. And we shouldn't forget the major contribution made by his partner Alison Biggs, who co-choreographed several of these hits with him. The couple live together in St. Albans, Hertfordshire and, although he's been a permanent resident in the UK for several years, Peter fulfils many engagements to teach at events in such diverse locations as Vienna, Berlin, Mexico and the United States. His dances are of truly international appeal and he describes choreography as his passion. What is more, he is very modest about his achievements and just wants to go on writing material that keeps the Line dance community, with its varied musical tastes, as happy as ever.
